Best 90s Soundtrack Tournament Round 3

We started this tournament because The Batman reminded us of the greatness of the 89-97 Batman soundtracks. Batman Forever was defeated in Round 2. We move on without a Batman soundtrack. RIP, collections of songs tangentially related to the Caped Crusader.

Round 2 was eye opening. We learned that there’s more consensus on the older films than the newer. Most of the 90-94 and 94-96 matchups were definitively decided. The second half of the decade was much closer. Only one matchup was a runaway (The Matrix destroyed Godzilla), the rest were decided by a handful of votes. Grosse Pointe Blank and The Craft faced off in a tiebreaker and the assassin beat the witches.

We did not include The BodyguardDead ManNight on Earth or Spiceworld since those are albums by one artist and could be considered typical, non-film albums. We did not include The Nightmare Before Christmas because it’s an original score. We did not include Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me because it’s an original score with one song from the TV series.

Our four conferences are separated by release date.

Our films are ranked by their AllMusic rating. Since the rating is a culmination of reviews, it seems to be the fairest representation of critical acclaim.
