WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT FRISBEES?!?
I’ve read over thirty books about pregnancy and parenting over the last three years. I’ve consumed nearly a thousand hours of family related podcasts in the last two years. I’ve read hundreds of thousands of words in articles and mailing lists about raising a toddler. Not one mentioned frisbees.
WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME A FRISBEE IS THE BEST TODDLER TOY?!?!?
Thanks to a very cool dog that decided they didn’t need their toy, my kid now has a frisbee. And guess what? He loves it! And it’s the only toy that is helpful to both of us!
Have you tried to get a toddler to head in the direction you want them? It’s not very easy. And those parenting books and podcasts and articles and mailings are helpful in managing emotions, but not many give any tangible advice about non-emotional needs. Needs like getting a toddler to move from one place to another.
You know what gets a toddler moving? A frisbee! A $10 flying disc has proven more useful than any reassuring message of support. Here’s how to use this incredibly effective parenting tool.
- Throw the frisbee in the direction you want the toddler to go.
- Follow toddler to the frisbee.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2.
Thanks you, random dog that forgot your frisbee. You’re more valuable than most every early childhood expert. You are truly a good boy or girl.
